Genetically Modified Organisms

Recently, the desire to have a natural designation on a food product label and to eliminate the potential for having to include "GENETICALLY ALTERED" in the future, has lead to many manufacturers to question ingredient suppliers as to the GMO status of their material. Simply, a genetically modified organism or GMO has been genetically altered by scientists to change its characteristics. Certainly, this has great potential to change a natural properties of the material and brings into question whether or not a 'natural' designation can be used on the finished product. This has become a major concern with firms selling materials into the European Community and we believe will not be far behind in the U.S..

The forests of acacia senegal and acacia seyal trees producing the gums utilized in the production of ISC's materials have not been genetically altered in any fashion. Nor do we employ any GMO or a product of a GMO anywhere in our processing facility. Furthermore, to eliminate any risk, we will never use radiation to facilitate the processing of the gum, a technique we understand is currently used by several acacia manufacturers.

Instead, we pioneered the technology necessary to process and deliver gum arabic and acacia in the form that nature intended, unaltered by science. This allows for the highest degree of functionality to the end user and protects your clean label.
